A Parkinson's Christmas
A Parkinson's Christmas

Another month draws to a close.
Its been busy as.

The year is drawing to an end in rapid fashion, with many end of year functions, group meetings and projects needing to hit deadlines.

It seems like the year has sped up as it reaches December, in fact I am sure of it. Hardly had time to get all this done as well!

House renovations.

The house is mostly back to normal with the kitchen chaos draws to a close. There will be a breather before the next round - the replacing of the floor tiles in the new year. The range cook top  and all the other key appliances and features are fully functional and we can have all sorts of meals again!

More help with Parkinson's awareness and advocacy.

Have continued my involvement with YOPD group  and also participation in a workshop with PQ to discuss the "newly diagnosed" requirements and help to formulate some ideas on what shape that should take in future.

Walking.

2021-12-29
Day 579 since diagnosis and day 577 of consecutive daily walking. I am feeling very good about this and will continue as long as I can.

Medication.
No Change to the schedule or positive impact.

Research.
Still working to make the research links page a bit more useful, it was a simple list to start with but expanding to make better use of the info in it.

Pilates.
Pilates still on a Saturday mornings, with a new physio Sakura has issued me with a more challenging program. Hopefully I don't forget how to do some of the tasks when class resumes post new year.

PFU Boxing.
On Wednesdays I do non contact boxing at the PCYC Laing Park 10:30 - 11:15.

PFU Boxing continues with Russell the new trainer. He has been taking the last few sessions pre Christmas and using new skills and techniques to focus the group on coordination activities using pool noodles, plastic balls and soft spongy balls as aprt of the sessions. Has been good fun and challenging with some shadow boxing step/ punch combinations. Left (punch) -3 (step to the left) ,right (punch) -2 (step to the back)  etc... maybe l will get Glenda to call and I can practice random combinations.

We had a social group dinner and secret santa at the Pig n Whistle early in the month with Glenda taking the lead and reading the "pass the parcel" style xmas story of the "Right Family". Was very entertaining and well received.

Also had a post boxing meal with a few at the Newstead brewery bar near the PCYC after the last boxing session.

Social Outings.
Some upcoming events in the pipeline, but all subject to lockdown conditions.

All events are subject to change at the moment and unfortunately its a case of roll with the punches and be flexible. I basically plan work to continue and will deal with holiday activities as they actually happen.

Work.

Head down and focus on delivery. Catch up is the order of the day. Many new projects in the pipeline and continuing to cleanup existing projects. Work in Toowoomba ongoing, some onsite and some remotely. I have had a steady stream of prospects so looking solid for the next few months.

Land Sailing.

Waiting for each Sunday to see what's happening at the track.... and have had a few other events happening.  Weather conditions mean no sailing. bah...

Otherwise for me its still so far so good.
Same Same.

And that is all for just now - keep a lookout for the next post and thanks for tagging along!
